This tune was included in Dretzel’s Evangelisches Choral-Buch, 1731, with Paul Gerhardt’s text, “Soar Aloft unto Thy God (Schwing dich auf zu deinem Gott).” It was also included in König’s Liederschatz, 1738, with the text “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus is (Christus, Christus, Christus ist),” written by Peter Franck on the occasion of the burial on January 4, 1657, of Pastor Johann Schulthess.
