This tune was originally joined to Luther’s hymn on the Lord’s Prayer, “Our Father, Thou in Heaven Above (Vater unser im Himmelreich).” It was not widely used until the nineteenth century, when it was joined to the text All Glory Be to God Alone (All Ehr und Lob soll Gottes sein).
